Hemangiosarcoma . . . the Hits Keep Coming

Jet’s surgeon called this morning.  His tumor was hemangiosarcoma and his margins were not clean.  Six and 1/2 years old.  I will never again neuter a dog before puberty.

I just received the pathology report and will be doing some research, but I’m all ears to any of you who have knowledge or experience surrounding this disease.

Crap!

  2. I just last night was reading about Jake. I wanted to get a vit more centered when I replied, so I waited until this morning. But as soon as I logged on, I saw this……..unbelievable. nope, not cenetered st all, so will be back.

I do wqmt to add quickly tjat misjroom therapy, paerticularly Yunnan Banyou (way off on spelling) jas shown good results.

If you haven’t already done so, do,ppst in the forums avout mishroom therapy…or any therapy…for that particular piece of s÷÷t

In the meantime, lean on us and let is do the research for you. You need to focus on Jet and working yoir way through Jake’s transition. I’m just so sorry you are dealing with so much right now.

    Semding love and strength

    1. Thank you Sally. Casey’s oncologist recommended I research I’m Yunity which is also a mushroom therapy.

  3. Oh My Lord. As if you haven’t had enough to deal with already.

I’m praying for you and Jet.

  4. I’m so sorry. This is terribly hard. My thoughts are with you and Jet.

I lost my Elsie just four months ago to what was very probably hermangiosarcoma, though we were unaware of anything until she became critical (and did not do an autopsy, hence the ‘very probably’). It’s good that you are on top of this, and can research options, such as the mushroom therapy.

Also, just to add, with reference to your comment about neutering, Elsie was not sterilised until after her first season (and even then she had a tubal ligation rather than a full ovariohysterectomy). She still got hermangiosarcoma. There are no guarantees. I know you know that, of course, but all I’m saying is please don’t beat yourself up for trying to do the right thing for Jet, based on your best knowledge at the time. There’s nothing more anyone can do.

The crucial thing is that you now know what is going on and can determine the best course of action.

We are all of us here to support you.

    Sending love,

Meg, Clare and Angel Pie xxx

  5. Oh no, I am so sorry. It is just one thing after another isn’t it?
I don’t even know what to say other than you know we are all here for you and will support you in any way that we can.
Sending great big hugs and many prayers!

    1. Thanks Jerry. At about $20/day, I’m Yunity is just too expensive, especially when it’s based on a study of 15 dogs that was paid for by the manufacturer. I have ordered pure Turkey Tail powder and K9 Immunity Plus plus some additional supplements, so there is hope, and we’re just going to put our dog on and enjoy life hour by hour.
